Block Drop

I recently found out Kate was a Tetris fiend in college, so, in the interests of destroying her productivity, I've put up this DHTML blocks game. It's based on one written by David Finch (available here). I updated it to allow rotating pieces in both directions, keep a highscore, and to make the UI a little nicer. All the code is within this one HTML page and is released under the BSD license; feel free to download and play with it.

Controls:
  • "l" or right arrow - Move block right.
  • "j" or left arrow - Move block left.
  • "m" - Move block down one.
  • "k" or down arrow - Rotate block clockwise.
  • "i" or up arrow - Rotate block counterclockwise.
  • Spacebar - Drop block to bottom.
  • "p" - Pause/Resume game.


Start a game by clicking "New Game" above the board. The game will pause automatically if this browser window is minimized or put behind other windows.
